To all my fellow PKs (Preacher's Kids), I want to send some love and encouragement your way. We carry unique pressures, expectations, and challenges—but I truly believe we're destined for greatness if we can learn to embrace the very struggles life throws at us.
We've all had those moments where we ask, "Why do I have to deal with all of this?" I know I've been there. But here's a thought: what if even the hardest, messiest parts of life serve a greater purpose?
Think about animal manure. Farmers spread it across their fields not because it smells good, but because it enriches the soil. That "mess" creates the perfect conditions for seeds to take root and grow strong.
The same is true for us. The betrayal, unforgiveness, mistrust, hurt, and disappointment we face—they may stink in the moment, but they can actually enrich our lives. If we allow it, those very challenges can shape us, strengthen us, and prepare us for growth we never thought possible.
When we water our lives with bold affirmations of who we are and whose we are, even mustard-seed faith can grow into a thriving forest of love, joy, and resilience.
It's not always easy to shift our perspective, but here's what I know:
God will never put more on us than we can bear. All things truly do work together for our good.
So, my PK family—and anyone who knows what it's like to struggle—let's learn to appreciate the "fertilizer" of life. Embrace the challenges, use them to grow, and watch your story blossom into something beautiful.
Love you all.
Until next time,
Don
