They Saw It Before I Did

Sometimes belief is borrowed before it's built.

There are people in my life I will never stop being grateful for.

Not because they gave me money. Not because they opened doors for me. Not because they made my journey easier.

I'm grateful for them because they gave me something even more valuable.

They believed in me before I believed in myself.

There was a time when I couldn't clearly see my own potential.

I had dreams, but they felt distant. I had ideas, but they felt uncertain. I had hopes for my future, but I wasn't always convinced I was capable of becoming the person I wanted to be.

And during those seasons, there were people who saw something in me that I couldn't yet see for myself.

They spoke life into me when I was doubting myself.

They reminded me of my strengths when all I could see were my weaknesses.

They challenged me when I wanted to play small.

And perhaps most importantly, they refused to let me settle for less than what they knew I was capable of becoming.

Looking back, I realize how powerful that gift really was.

Sometimes belief is borrowed before it's built.

Sometimes we need someone else's confidence in us until we develop our own.

There were moments when I wanted to quit. Moments when fear was louder than faith. Moments when the gap between where I was and where I wanted to be felt impossible to close.

But the voices of those people stayed with me.

Their encouragement became evidence.

Their faith became fuel.

And little by little, I started becoming the person they had been seeing all along.

That's what great mentors, friends, parents, leaders, and coaches do.

They don't just see who you are.

They see who you're becoming.

And they speak to that future version of you long before anyone else can recognize it.

The older I get, the more I realize that one of the greatest gifts we can give another person is belief.

Not empty compliments.

Not false praise.

Real belief.

The kind that says:

"I see something special in you."

"You are capable of more than you realize."

"Don't quit before you've given your purpose a chance to grow."

Those words can change a life.

I know because they changed mine.

Today, I try to be that person for others.

Because somewhere around you right now is someone who is questioning themselves.

Someone who is carrying a dream they haven't fully trusted yet.

Someone who needs encouragement more than advice.

Someone who simply needs another human being to say:

"I believe in you."

Never underestimate the power of those words.

You never know when your belief may become the bridge that carries someone into their future.

Sometimes the greatest gift you can give a person is believing in them until they learn how to believe in themselves.

Until next time,
Don
