The Why That Broke My Heart

My heart was breaking because I had just discovered my true WHY.

Recently, someone asked me why I'm involved in entrepreneurship and network marketing. I've been asked this many times before, and my answer was usually the same:

"I want a big house, a Range Rover, my own school, and the ability to take my family on vacation whenever we want."

There's nothing wrong with those things—I still plan to have them. But this time, I didn't answer so quickly. I realized my why needed to be about more than just things.

And then it hit me.

The Monopoly Game That Changed Everything

One evening, I was at home playing Monopoly with my family. My 11-year-old son, my Prince, had grown used to winning. He was dominating the board as usual, locking down properties—even Boardwalk.

But then, things changed.

He landed on someone else's property and didn't have enough money to pay. He started selling off his assets, one by one. Each roll of the dice seemed to take something more from him until finally…

No money. No property. Nothing.

Everyone else was laughing and enjoying the game, but I noticed his demeanor shift. His breathing grew heavy. His little chest heaved. I asked if he was okay. With tears in his eyes, he said,

"I just feel like crying. What happened?"

I reassured him it was only a game, but he couldn't stop crying or shaking.

And that's when I told him: "Don't ever forget this feeling. Because this is what it's like when you can't pay your bills or provide for your family. That's why you have to work hard, study, and prepare for success."

In that moment, my own heart was pounding. I felt my chest tighten. Tears welled up in my eyes.

And then I realized: this wasn't about a game at all.

My heart was breaking because I had just discovered my true WHY.

The Legacy I Refuse to Leave Undone

Seeing his reaction brought back memories of my own struggles—especially financial ones. The thought of him going through the same hardships because I failed to prepare the way for him was unbearable.

That's when my Why became clear:

  • My Why is to build a legacy for my son, his future children, and generations to come.
  • My Why is to give him time freedom and the proper mentorship to grow into a King.
  • My Why is to ensure that as successful as I may be, it's only a fraction of what he will achieve.
  • My Why is to not just level the playing field, but to buy him his own field—so he can create a climate of true freedom and success.

So Why Will I Succeed?

Why am I going to succeed as an entrepreneur?

Simply because of him.

Until next time,
Don
