Rest Is Preparation, Not Weakness

Growth also happens during recovery.

For a long time, I thought constantly being busy meant I was productive.

Long days. Late nights. Always working. Always pushing.

I wore exhaustion like a badge of honor.

I convinced myself that slowing down meant falling behind… that resting meant I wasn't serious enough about my goals.

But eventually I learned something the hard way:

Running nonstop doesn't always move you forward.

Sometimes it just burns you out.

And when you're mentally, emotionally, and physically drained, everything starts suffering:

Your focus

Your patience

Your creativity

Your decision-making

Even the quality of your work

You may still be showing up physically… but mentally, you're running on empty.

That's why I had to change the way I viewed rest.

Rest is not laziness.

Rest is preparation.

Even elite athletes understand this. They don't train hard every single second of the day.

Recovery is part of the process.

Because growth doesn't only happen during effort.

Growth also happens during recovery.

And honestly, the same is true in life.

Sometimes rest looks like sleep. Sometimes it's unplugging from work. Sometimes it's prayer, quiet time, a walk, laughter, family time, or simply slowing your mind down long enough to breathe again.

The goal isn't to avoid hard work.

The goal is sustainability.

Because you cannot continuously pour out without refilling yourself.

You don't have to earn rest.

You have to protect it.

Rest on purpose.

Not because you're quitting… But because you're preparing for what's next.

Until next time,
Don
