People Need to Feel Seen

The encouragement people remember most is usually the encouragement that made them feel truly seen.

I used to think encouragement was simple.

Just tell people "You got this," "Keep going," or "You're doing great" and move on.

But over time, I realized something:

The encouragement people remember most is usually the encouragement that made them feel truly seen.

Anybody can give generic compliments.

But meaningful encouragement is specific.

It notices something. It recognizes effort. It points out character. It reminds people of strengths they may have forgotten they even have.

There's a difference between saying:

"Good job."

And saying:

"I noticed the way you handled that situation with patience and maturity. That wasn't easy, and it made a difference."

See the difference?

One sounds nice.

The other stays with people.

Because people don't just want applause.

They want to know somebody actually sees them.

That somebody noticed the effort. The growth. The consistency. The strength it took to keep showing up.

And honestly, a lot of people are carrying heavy things silently.

One intentional word of encouragement can change somebody's whole day… sometimes even their whole direction.

So don't just encourage people casually.

Encourage people intentionally.

Notice the things most people overlook.

Be the person who reminds others of who they are when they start forgetting.

That kind of encouragement stays with people.

Until next time,
Don
