I'll be honest…
Perfectionism held me back for a long time.
There were things I wanted to start, create, and put out into the world — but I kept waiting for the "perfect" moment.
Perfect timing. Perfect plan. Perfect execution.
And while I was busy trying to perfect everything…
Nothing was moving.
Ideas stayed stuck in my head. Opportunities passed by. Progress got delayed.
What I eventually realized was this:
Perfectionism often looks productive on the outside…
But underneath, it's usually fear.
Fear of failure. Fear of judgment. Fear of not being good enough.
So instead of taking action, we keep tweaking, waiting, and overthinking.
But here's what I discovered:
Nothing meaningful gets built by waiting until everything is perfect.
Growth happens through action.
The businesses that succeed? The books that impact people? The leaders who inspire others?
None of them started perfect.
They started.
Then they improved along the way.
Done creates momentum. Perfect creates delay.
An imperfect first step will teach you more than endless planning ever will.
Because you can improve something that exists.
You can't improve something you never started.
So stop holding yourself hostage trying to make everything flawless.
Take the step. Launch the idea. Start the project. Have the conversation.
Refine it as you grow.
But first… get it done.
Until next time,
Don
